SMC and BMC Compression Molding

SMC & BMC Resin Systems

Precision Resins for Compression Molding

Delivering Class A surfaces and high mechanical strength for the automotive and electrical industries.

The Foundation of High-Performance Composites

Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) and Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) are crucial for mass-producing high-strength composite parts. The key to quality lies in the resin matrix.

Changyuan New Materials engineers advanced unsaturated polyester resins specifically for these processes. Our formulations address the critical challenges of shrinkage control, fiber wetting, and shelf-life stability.

Processing & Technical FAQ

Do you supply Low Profile Additives (LPA) separately?

Yes, we manufacture both base resins and compatible Low Profile Additives (polystyrene, PVAc, or PMMA based) that can be supplied separately or pre-blended to meet your specific shrinkage requirements.

What is the shelf life of your SMC resin?

Standard SMC resins have a shelf life of 3-6 months when stored below 25°C. We can adjust the inhibitor system to provide longer stability for export shipments or specific processing windows.

Can your resin be used for both SMC and BMC?

While some base resins are versatile, SMC and BMC typically require different viscosity profiles. SMC resins usually have lower viscosity for fiber wetting, while BMC resins can be higher. We recommend specific grades for each process to ensure optimal performance.

Do you offer flame retardant options for BMC?

Yes, we have halogenated and non-halogenated flame retardant resin systems designed to meet UL 94 V-0 standards for electrical BMC applications.
