SMC & BMC Resin Systems
Class A Surface. Precision Molding.
Advanced formulations for automotive body panels, electrical switchgear, and sanitary ware.
Resins for Compression Molding
SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) and BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) are the preferred choice for mass-producing high-strength composite parts. The key to successful molding lies in the resin's thickening behavior and shrinkage control.
Changyuan New Materials produces specialized SMC/BMC resins that offer a wide processing window and consistent thickening response to MgO/CaO thickeners. Our flagship Class A system is used by Tier 1 automotive suppliers for exterior body panels.
Whether you need high dielectric strength for electrical parts or high impact resistance for truck bumpers, we have a tailored formulation based on our premium Isophthalic and Vinyl Ester systems.

Dimensional Stability
Our low-shrink (LS) and low-profile (LP) systems ensure parts maintain precise geometric tolerances after molding.
Consistent Thickening
Optimized MgO/CaO reactivity curve provides a stable maturation window, extending the shelf life of your prepregs.
High Filler Loading
Lower viscosity allows for higher calcium carbonate or ATH loading, reducing your overall compound cost.

Questions about SMC & BMC
What is the difference between SMC and BMC resin?
SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) resins are typically lower viscosity to wet out long chopped fibers in a continuous sheet process. BMC (Bulk Molding Compound) resins are often higher viscosity and designed to be mixed with shorter fibers and high filler loads in a dough mixer.
Do you supply Low Profile Additives (LPA)?
Yes, we offer PVAc and PMMA based low profile additives that can be pre-blended or supplied separately to achieve Class A surface quality.
What maturation time is required?
Our standard SMC resins typically reach molding viscosity (20-40 million cps) within 48-72 hours at 30°C, but this can be customized based on your MgO grade.
